Fairmount Aquarium & Water Gardens services both fresh and saltwater aquariums.  In addition to water changes Fairmount's staff are available by appointment only for water testing, tank relocations, custom tank design, and tank cleaning.

  In an aquarium it is important to maintain the appropriate chemical levels.  Two of the main chemicals naturally produced in the tank are Ammonia and Nirtite.  Ammonia is the main killer of both fresh and saltwater fish.  Ammonia is constantly produced through fish waste and uneaten fish food.  High Nitrite levels can also be a major cause of fish death.  Nitrite affects the red blood cells of fish, reducing the fish’s ability to carry oxygen.  High levels of Nitrite can cause the fish to die of suffocation.  Monthly water changes will greatly reduce both the Ammonia and Nitrite levels in an aquarium.
